Alex Roche
Software Developer, Web Designer and UX developer
Since 2018, I have completed various computing qualifications, including GCSE computer science. I used my GCSEs to apply for an Extended Diploma in IT at City College Plymouth, which taught me about computing in the workplace, what techniques are used, how to program and how to develop software solutions based on a client brief. I achieved tripple distinction star which is the highest grade you can achieve and then used this to apply for a computer science degree at Plymouth University. I was taught the fundametnal practical skills of computing including how to set up a network, how to develop web applications, how to train and use AI models, how to program using Object Oriented Programming, how to create mobile applications and how to create a high-performance computer cluster. I have just completed my degree, achieving a first class overall, which demonstrates my excellence in utilising these practical skills.

I have been interested in web design and development since I was 15
During my GCSE studies, I completed a qualification called Creative IMedia, which taught me about digital media and how to develop digital solutions for clients. One of our tasks was to develop a website, which I did not know how to do at first, but once I grasped some practice, I started to enjoy it and realised what I wanted to do in the future.
